Your life is a gift from God. However, most Christian teens have at one time or another contemplated ending their life by committing suicide. Christian or not, there are few that see suicide as anything less than a tragedy.
Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death worldwide, with over 1 million occurring each year. It is estimated that between 10 and 25 non-fatal attempts occur for every suicide death. Within the United States, there is an average of 1 attempts suicide every 17 minutes. The highest rate occurs among the elderly. Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among young people between the ages of 15 and 25.
It’s not easy to be teen-agers nowadays. They are constantly confronted with new social roles, new relationships, and having to get used to their body changes. Other issues include financial uncertainty, and fears of growing up. Thus feelings of stress, confusion, self-doubt, and pressure to succeed can be overwhelming to teen-agers.
And when the teen-agers are looking for answers to their problems, they found no one to talk to, making them feel quite lonely. For some teens, suicide may appear to be the only solution to heir problems . Every hour and forty-five minutes another young person commits suicide.
Our Body is a Temple, God is pretty clear throughout the Bible that we are to take care of our bodies. We are urged to see our bodies as a temple of God, and it is clear that God will judge those that destroy that temple. 1 Corinthians 6:19-201 Corinthians 6:19-20
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”
